A Very Boring VT


Yesterday I went for a rather boring walk around Tsaravets. (No, I do not think that Peter has done this walk.) Well, it was beautifully sunny and it was good to see all of the VT Walkers again, but I don’t really like “road walks” and I could not let Tina off the lead. 

I am going to include some more VT photos in this post. They are rather lovely photos but no, I cannot take the credit for them.

Any other news? It will be Irena’s birthday on 2nd March and after that I am hoping that we will be going to Daveri sooner rather than later. VT is getting rather boring.

Is Trump deliberately trying to wreck NATO, perhaps on Putin’s orders? On the other hand, maybe he is just a ****ing idiot. Yes, the ICE agents in Minneapolis have shot someone else. I am sure that there will be a third and a fourth person shot dead, before too long. ICE really are pretty blooming awful. Some Americans have suggested that the ICE thing in Minnesota has really little or nothing to do with illegal immigrants. There are far more illegals in “red” states like Texas!

It looks as though Starmer's Labour government is incredibly unpopular. They are going to get wiped out in the next election. However, I really cannot stand Farage. He is just awful. The thought of Farage in No. 10 is just too dreadful.

Is Trump going to attack Iran again? Yes, probably. There is a massive build-up of American forces in the Gulf and in some ways Trump would look a twit if, having moved all the of the aircraft carriers and so on, he then did not actually use them.

As you know, I rather keen on making unlikely predictions and now I am going to make another one. This year, the Russian army will collapse and the Ukrainians will be victorious. The Russian army has already suffered horrific losses, trying to smash their way through the Ukrainian defences, and it is just a matter of time before the balance shifts and the Ukrainians go on the offensive. As the weeks and months go by, so the Ukrainians get better weapons and learn how to use them more effectively, while the Russians’ morale gets even lower and their equipment gets more and more outdated and inadequate. Maybe this dreadful war will be over by the summer.

Not so long ago, I wrote a post for my blog called Educaring . Please do not misunderstand me. I really do believe that teachers, youth workers, parents (and indeed anyone involved with young people) all have a duty to protect children and teenagers, to keep them safe. As I argued in my previous posting, I also believe that the task of protecting children is becoming more and more difficult - almost impossible, in fact. Yes, the Internet has a lot to do with it, I am sure, but there is another problem that is hardly ever discussed.  In a nutshell, anyone who genuinely cares about children finds it very hard to imagine how evil and how subtle child molesters and pedophiles really are. On the Cards, Part 1

Getting our new Bulgarian residency cards from the Microwave Oven Woman Rejoice! Let's celebrate. Hallelujah! At long last, the Microwave Woman has given us our new Bulgarian residency cards (BRCs). As a special treat, just in case you do not know what a BRC looks like, here is my old one.  My dear wife suggested that I should "black out" certain bits, as there are lots of evil people out there on the Internet, all gathering my personal and financial details in order to swindle me or involve me in some dreadful scandal or some such nonsense. Of course, no one who reads my blog could ever do such a nasty thing!   Getting our new BRCs means that we can go ahead with our applications for our Russian visas. Then, maybe two or three weeks later, our passports will be returned to us, with new Russian visas stuck into them. Making your mark

Sometimes I wonder why I bother looking at things on Facebook, as many of them are so annoying. Recently I came across a particularly silly and soppy video about an older teacher who refused to mark her students' work in red ink because it might upset them. There were lots of comments written underneath, all saying that this video was wonderful and that yes, red ink is absolutely awful and it is very upsetting and discouraging for the poor students to read the harsh and horrible comments that are written in red ink.  Oh really? What if the comments themselves are very positive and encouraging? Here is my response to this deluge of criticism for those cruel, wicked and insensitive teachers who torture their poor students by writing in red.   What a lot of nonsense! Many young teachers are too lazy and too unprofessional to write anything in their students' exercise books, in whatever colour.
