Why doesn't everyone just move abroad? Part 3

Image
Have you seen this property advertised on the YANTRA HOMES website? Not bad for 65,000 euros and it comes with more than 2000 sq metres of land. I am not sure that you really need four bedrooms, but maybe one of them could be made into a library or a study or something else. It is really nice to have some spare space and an extra bathroom or two, whenever anyone comes to stay.  Polski Trambesh is about 40 or maybe 50 kms north of Veliko Tarnovo, so you will need a car (and probably a garage). On the other hand, perhaps there is someone in the village who will sell you their garage or rent one to you or else you could use one of the outbuildings as a garage. The vendors have lavished care and attention (and money!) on this property and the swimming pool is rather nice. This property really does look like a bargain!  Recently I had quite a long chat with an old friend in the UK, who is not all happy with the situation in Dear Old Blighty (more rail strikes and air traffic contro...

Spying

Image
The front gate is MASSIVE! We felt a bit like the twelve spies, sent by Joshua to spy out the land of Canaan.  First we got lost, somewhere south of Elena, and finally we arrived in Daveri. No, we did not actually knock on the front door of what we hope will one day be our house, but we did see it and it was good to know that it is still there, waiting for us! I also found some more photos of the house on another estate agent's website. That view is just amazing. Next we drove through the village of Palitsi to the dam and we had a wander around. It really is a pretty spot. No, we did not have lunch at the rather posh-looking (and modestly-priced) restaurant and we did not buy anything from the fish farm. Next time, perhaps.   A naughty little doggie had a good time.

Changing Places, Part 3

As regular readers of my blog will know, I am a great fan of Bosch. They make some great kitchen appliances (washing machines, coffee grinders, toasters and so on). My wife and I have bought quite a few Bosch things. However, I am now a fan of Yantra Homes as well because this estate agency gave us some excellent service when we went to Veliko Tarnovo for our house-hunting expedition.  We saw quite a few properties and most of them we did not really like. Yes, they looked great in the photos, but they were not so wonderful when you actually went to the houses and saw how they really are.  The side of the house and you can see the massive wooden gate. There was, however, one splendid exception. There was one house that actually looked a lot better in real life than it does in the photos! The bad news? Yes, there is some. First of all, it is a bit further from Veliko Tarnovo than we had wanted (50 km or thereabouts) and, at 81,000 euros, it is costing u...
