A Wet Bulgaria
Some experts now think that the Ukrainians have destroyed as much as 40% of Russia oil production. Someone once described Russia as “a petrol station pretending to be a country”, so I reckon that the Russian economy (and the Russian army) are in serious trouble. Western weapons are helping the Ukrainians to kill an awful lot of Russian soldiers. According to some YouTube videos I have watched, the Russian army is running out of tanks and has to salvage old tanks from the Soviet era, some of which are forty or even fifty years old! So when is the war going to end? When can Irena go home? Next month? Next year?
Is it really possible that the Israeli army and airforce have stopped bashing the **** out of Gaza? Is there really going to be peace? Well, so far it looks quite promising and the hostages have been released, as well as thousands of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. The really good news is that the Nobel Peace Prize committee has decided NOT to give the prize to Donald Trump. Hooray!
One thing that I agree with Trump about (probably the only thing) is men in women’s sports. It is appalling that these transvestite perverts pretend to be women, so that they can cheat and have an unfair advantage when competing against real women.
We have had some very serious rain over the last week or so. It has been pretty heavy and continuous, so I have had to go out and pump out the water barrels every so often. I am thinking that it might be a good idea to have proper guttering on the house, so that we could have massive water tanks to collect lots of rainwater. The tanks would be where the piles of wood are now. We have gradually been using up the wood and maybe I could squeeze it all into the woodshed next spring.
We had a bit of an emergency yesterday, as the electric pump for the central heating stopped working. This meant that the temperature in the boiler went up dangerously high. I had to take out some of the pieces of burning wood, in order to get the temperature down a bit. I do not understand much about pumps and thermostats and central heating systems! Well, I charged up the car battery that is connected to the system and that seemed to sort out the problem.
As you can imagine, the heavy rain has caused some serious problems in Veliko Tarnovo. The Yantra River rose very quickly, but the good news is that it did not burst its banks and flood lots of houses. The Forty Martyrs Church was flooded and the rain washed down loads of rock, so the road to Arbanassi was closed for a while. The good news is that the Yakovitsi reservoir is filling up again.
