Taking a fence

At our country house in Daveri, we have a LOT of wooden fences. My guess is that they were put up when the house was built, so these fences must be about twenty years old. The wood is quite cheap rubbish and it has not been treated properly with preservative over the years, so now these fences are falling to bits.

I thought that the new fence would take a few days, but now it looks as though it will be several weeks before it is all completed. Getting rid of the old fence was a bit awkward. Yes, a lot of the wood is rotten and so I smashed it with my axe, but most of the vertical posts had to be cut through with an electric saw.

The solution to all problems is Vincent, our nextdoor neighbour. He did an excellent job of installing the green metal posts and the actual fence itself. The only problem was that I had miscounted and did not buy quite enough posts and also we need some more bolts. We are hoping that Vincent will finish all of the work quite soon and this morning I went into Elena to buy some more bolts and metal washers.

Whenever possible, that naughty doggie called Tina has tried to escape and run off, to play with her friends down in the village. She is a very badly-behaved dog from Plovdiv.

While we are on the subject of garden-related things, I must mention that the ASPARAGUS has appeared and very delicious it is too, together with some bread and butter and mayonnaise. Some of the asparagus spears are good and fat, but some are a bit feeble and spindly. Probably the plants will need another year to become properly established.

  1. What about your little furry one? Wasn't she tempted to explore the area when the fence was down?

  2. Tina, that naughty little fat doggie from Plovdiv, made repeated attempts to escape. She likes to run away and play with her canine friends down in the village. We tried to keep the gate closed, but once or twice she managed to jump over the wall and run off.
