Taking a Fence

Yes, they have finally arrived! The twelve sections of metal fence from PRAKTIKER were delivered today*. We had to make a special trip to Daveri, so that we could accept the delivery. Anyway, we cannot really do anything about this new fence until the spring comes along. I do not actually know what I am doing (what a surprise!) and I have never put up a fence before. But hey, there is a first time for everything. The old wooden fence is about twenty years old, so it has a nasty habit of falling down and then breaking into pieces.

What worries me is that of course the fence sections are not going to be exactly the same length as the current old wooden fence. So what are we going to do? Cut one section of fencing, so that it will fit the gap? Or maybe we should build a little bit of extra stone wall at one end, in order to fill in the space.

Yes, the Ukrainians have re-taken Kherson, but so far the Russians have not joined up the dots and they do not seem to realize that Putin is a total nitwit. Well, some of them have and unfortunately they are in prison, in exile or dead.

Some other good news? It looks as though the Republicans have done rather badly in the mid-term elections in the US of A, so many of them are blaming Trump. Yes, of course there are still lots of Republican grassroots voters who still support him, but he is looking weaker by the day. Hooray!

This Rishi Sunak chap actually seems to be quite sensible. No, I am not going to become an OAP any day soon, but for me the big “65” is not so very far away and so it is good that pensions are going up by 10%. But what about the TPS? Is that going to go up as well?

Anyway, I just cannot believe that Peter's primary school actually did a BMX day with the children. Excellent! Yes, I am not a great fan of the Health & Safety Nazis who always want to stop all children everywhere from doing anything that is vaguely fun, interesting, different and maybe even a little bit dangerous. On the other hand, it seems to me that sooner or later one of the students is going to try one of these amazing BMX stunts and then the little darling will probably fall off and break his / her neck or injure their spine, so the unfortunate student has to spend the rest of his / her life in a flipping wheelchair. But perhaps the head of his school wisely got their signatures from all of the parents, so it really does not matter if the little darlings get horribly injured because no one will be able to sue the school. But they might still try…

I just do not understand why all of these flipping Albanians are coming to the UK. The UK is no longer part of the EU and Albania has never been part of the EU, so why are these Albanian migrants being allowed into the country? If they go to France or to Germany before coming to the UK, then why aren’t the French and the Germans stopping them from going any further? On the other hand, I suppose that you could argue that Irena and I are also “economic migrants”, so maybe I am not really in a position to criticize anyone for wanting to live in another country.

On the subject of economic migration, I recently saw a really nice house advertised for eight and a half thousand euros. Well, yes, it did need some work and maybe some new furniture, but it looked good and you can find it on the YANTRA HOMES website.
