Winter is coming, Part 4


Well, actually it looks as though Winter is already here. We had not even finished November and the snow has arrived.
 

That naughty little doggie likes to sit right next to the fire. 

The good news is that our wood-fired central heating system is working really well. (I suppose it ought to, after all the money we spent on it.) The bad news is that we are getting through our stock of firewood at an alarming rate - burning through it, in fact. My dear Irena says that it will be difficult to buy some more firewood in December. The sensible thing would have been to buy more in August or September, but we could not have squeezed much more into the woodshed.

Not so long ago, I wrote a post for my blog called Educaring . Please do not misunderstand me. I really do believe that teachers, youth workers, parents (and indeed anyone involved with young people) all have a duty to protect children and teenagers, to keep them safe. As I argued in my previous posting, I also believe that the task of protecting children is becoming more and more difficult - almost impossible, in fact. Yes, the Internet has a lot to do with it, I am sure, but there is another problem that is hardly ever discussed.  In a nutshell, anyone who genuinely cares about children finds it very hard to imagine how evil and how subtle child molesters and pedophiles really are. On the Cards, Part 1

Getting our new Bulgarian residency cards from the Microwave Oven Woman Rejoice! Let's celebrate. Hallelujah! At long last, the Microwave Woman has given us our new Bulgarian residency cards (BRCs). As a special treat, just in case you do not know what a BRC looks like, here is my old one.  My dear wife suggested that I should "black out" certain bits, as there are lots of evil people out there on the Internet, all gathering my personal and financial details in order to swindle me or involve me in some dreadful scandal or some such nonsense. Of course, no one who reads my blog could ever do such a nasty thing!   Getting our new BRCs means that we can go ahead with our applications for our Russian visas. Then, maybe two or three weeks later, our passports will be returned to us, with new Russian visas stuck into them. The Great Debate

My old friend Peter is supposed to be posting my new Barclaycard and a CD of the photos he took in Bulgaria this summer. No, they have not arrived yet and neither has anything from the HMRC. Bother! As for me, I have been quite busy recently. We finally sorted out the tiles on the “summer kitchen”, the outside seating area located above the septic tank. Yes, there were quite a lot of tiles that were broken by the hailstorm. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump finally got together for a nice little chat last night. A little bit earlier, I had quite a long discussion with Katrina, who is a journalist with  The Daily Mail . No, I am not a keen reader of that newspaper, but she is writing an article about coming to live in Bulgaria, so I was happy to help her.
